Car basics

While there is some overlap between age groups, car seats generally fall into 3 different age categories:

1) 0-6 months old

2) 6 months old – 4 years old

3) 4-7 years old (booster seat)

For the first 6 months the convenience of a specialised pull-in/pull-out capsule cannot be overstated – particularly if you have  matching pram. The more chance of having your baby stay asleep when you take them out of the car the better. The cost of buying one however, may put you off – especially considering that they only last for about 6 – 9 months. The other option is to hire one for that period and then buy another one that will last for 4 years.
